Last Monday, the last known Ebola patient was released from a hospital in Sierra Leone, a milestone that allowed the West African nation to begin a 42-day countdown toward being declared free of Ebola transmission. The worst Ebola outbreak in history has killed nearly 4,000 people in Sierra Leone out of more than 13,500 confirmed, probable and suspected cases, according to the World Health Organization.

LONDON (AP) — A tiny, wireless pacemaker could offer some heart patients a surgery-free alternative to the traditional devices, a new study says. Some doctors, however, say there are lingering safety questions and warned patients not to rush to get the new technology.   Unlike traditional pacemakers — which need a generator and wires and are implanted via surgery — the new pacemaker is a wireless tiny tube that can be attached to the right side of the heart using a catheter inserted through the leg. Paralympic snowboarder Amy Purdy and her boyfriend of 14 years, Daniel Gale, tied the knot on Saturday in Boise, Idaho, People reports. Purdy, who was a runner-up on Season 18 of Dancing with the Stars, posted a photo on Instagram Saturday, showing a bit of her dress and teasing that "Something special is about to go down." Despite receiving nearly universal bad reviews from critics, the faith-based film War Room emerged as a formidable force at the box office this weekend and almost knocked Straight Outta Compton out of first place. War Room did top Compton on Friday, but the final weekend totals were $13.2 million for Compton and $11 million for War Room, Box Office Mojo reports.

TVLine reports that the 24 alum will guest-star on an upcoming episode of CBS' Sherlock Holmes drama as Donya Esfandiari, an international hotelier who's negotiating with Sherlock's father, Morland (John Noble), a consultant. Aghdashloo has also appeared on Grimm and stars on Syfy's upcoming series The Expanse.

Hauschka kicks 60-yard field goal to give Seahawks 16-15 win SAN DIEGO (AP) — Facing a 60-yard field goal attempt on a steamy evening with 16 seconds left and his Seattle Seahawks trailing by two, Steven Hauschka's mindset was to just swing away. Nick Novak, competing for a job with rookie Josh Lambo, kicked a 52-yard field goal midway through the fourth quarter to give San Diego a 15-13 lead. Trailing 3-0, and with the Seattle offense generating just 40 total yards and one first down on three possessions, Lockett took Chargers punter Mike Scifres’ kick at his own 33-yard line.
