National survey: Overwhelming support for expanded background checks of gun buyers
An overwhelming 85 percent majority of Americans support expanded background checks for people buying guns, according to a new national survey by the Pew Research Center. The majority is bipartisan, 88 percent of Democrats and 79 percent for Republicans. The Gun Lobby blocked background check legislation two years ago, both in Congress and the Washington Legislature.
