An overwhelming 85 percent majority of Americans support expanded background checks for people buying guns, according to a new national survey by the Pew Research Center. The majority is bipartisan, 88 percent of Democrats and 79 percent for Republicans.  The Gun Lobby blocked background check legislation two years ago, both in Congress and the Washington Legislature.  The state passed Initiative 594 last November, requiring criminal background checks for those purchasing firearms at gun shows and on line. DENVER (AP) — A suburban Denver baker who would not make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple cannot cite his Christian beliefs in refusing them service because it would lead to discrimination, the Colorado Court of Appeals ruled Thursday. NBC has extended the comedian's contract to host The Tonight Show for six more years, through the fall of 2021, NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt announced at the Television Critics Association fall previews on Thursday. Check out the latest NBC news from press tour Fallon has made his mark by involving his celebrity guests in a series of fun games and activities that include playing Pictionary, Catchphrase, dancing, "Egg Russian Roulette" and lip-sync battles, which was spun-off to its own hit show on Spike.

NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt declared that the former host would "absolutely not" return to The Celebrity Apprentice at the Television Critics Association fall previews. The network is currently looking for a host to replace Trump, which means that NBC has had to delay The Celebrity Apprentice's return.

Details about the new project are scarce at the moment, although sources tell TVLine that Smith's production company, Overbrook Entertainment, is in the "very early stages" of developing a revival set in the present day, which they hope to shop around in the coming weeks. The news comes amid breathless anticipation for other '90s reboots like Fuller House and The X-Files event series on Netflix and Fox, respectively.

Sesame Workshop has inked a five-year deal to premiere new episodes of Sesame Streeton HBO, the companies announced Thursday. "Sesame Street is the most important preschool education program in the history of television," HBO Chairman and CEO, Richard Plepler, and President Michael Lombardo said in a joint statement. Over the past decade, both the way in which children are consuming video and the economics of the children's television production business have changed dramatically.

"Yeah, there's a four-way crossover with [the] three Chicago shows and SVU -- the jumbo crossover, never before done," co-creator Matt Olmstead said at the Television Critics Association fall previews on Thursday.
