In its efforts to rid Lagos of abandoned, accident vehicles, Ambode creates Vehicle Recovery Unit
Gov Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos has approved the creation of a Vehicle Recovery Unit to remove abandoned and accident vehicles from the road. This was announced by the commissioner for special duties and intergovernmental relations.

Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has approved the creation of a Vehicle Recovery Unit to remove abandoned and accident vehicles from the road.
This was announced by the commissioner for special duties and intergovernmental relations, Oluseye Oladejo, at a ministerial press briefing to commemorate the third anniversary of Ambode's administration, Premium Times reports.
NAIJ.com notes that the commissioner said that the unit would be under the ministry of special duties, adding that it would complement emergency recovery efforts and prevent mishaps on streets and major highways in the state.

He said: “The ministry late in 2017 was given the mandate to set up a unit for vehicle towing and recovery services to remove abandoned and accidented vehicles from our roads.
“This speaks largely to efforts in terms of prevention to mop up abandoned vehicles in all nooks and crannies in the state and also to make sure that broken down vehicles are promptly removed to prevent mishaps on the highways.
“For the smooth take-off of the unit, the governor also directed that equipment and towing trucks of various capacities be procured to be able to remove vehicles of whatever make and size.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos officially unveiled an ultra-modern recreational park in Alausa, Ikeja, in the evening of Wednesday, December 12, 2017.
The park was opened in honour of three former governors of the state, Brigadier Mobolaji Johnson (Rtd), Alhaji Lateef Jakande and Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The park is located in front of the state House of Assembly and few metres away from Lagos House.
