A record-breaking 43 million Americans will be traveling on this year's Fourth of July weekend, NBC Chicago reports.

Most Disney films are dominated by male voices. Even in movies with female leads, like "Pocahontas" or "The Little Mermaid," male characters often wind up with most of the dialogue.

To figure out the full extent of the gender divide in film, Polygraph's Hanah Anderson and Matt Daniels analyzed 2,000 screenplays, including 30 Disney and Pixar movies.

For the Disney films, they found that male characters overwhelmingly dominate screen time: They have 60% or more of the dialogue in 22 of the 30 films in the study. Читать дальше...

This week, JK Rowling published a short story about the origins of Ilvermorny, the American school of witchcraft and wizardry.

The story centers on Isolt Sayre, one of the school's founders. But there's one scene that looks remarkably like one of the most important scenes from the original Harry Potter series: when Lord Voldemort kills Harry's parents. DHAKA, Bangladesh (AP) — Police say two officers have been killed by attackers who stormed a restaurant popular with foreigners in a diplomatic zone in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, taking dozens of hostages and exchanging gunfire with security forces.

Hospital authorities said another 25 officers and one civilian were being treated for injuries, including 10 people listed in critical condition. The injuries include bullet wounds and broken bones, they said.

Wales beat Belgium 3-1 in the quarterfinals of Euro 2016 in a shocking win that will be remembered as one of the highlights of the tournament.

Another cable company just jumped into Google and AT&T's fight over utility poles.

Frontier Communications has filed a letter of support for AT&T, which is trying to block Google from accessing its poles to install the equipment for Fiber, the super-fast internet service.

Getting in shape for a movie is no easy feat. 

Alexander Skarsgard, who spends most of the upcoming "The Legend of Tarzan" shirtless, had to do a lot of work to get 8-pack abs.

According to Mr. Porter, as reported by PEOPLE, Skarsgard consumed 7,000 calories per day during the eight weeks of preparation leading up to the shoot as well as the four months of filming. Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway are growing their stake in Wells Fargo.

The famed investor applied to the Federal Reserve on Friday to increase his firm's stake in the bank above 10%, according to a report from Bloomberg's Noah Buhayar and Katherine Chiglinsky.

Hitting the 10% level automatically requires a disclosure from the investor in order to hold such a large stake.

Near the end of the story, Rowling writes about what happens to Salazar Slytherin's wand. Isolt, the story's main character, is a descendant of Slytherin, who is also one of the founders of Hogwarts. The wand is a family heirloom and Isolt steals it when she escapes her evil aunt in Europe to live in America.

Ride services company Lyft is poised to take advantage of a surge of investor interest in the transportation service sector as it closes in on a possible sale of the company or new capital raise, people familiar with the situation said.

Venture capitalists and corporate investors have poured nearly $28 billion into the ride services sector over the past decade, propelling growth at Lyft, China's Didi Chuxing and Uber, according to a Reuters analysis.

Nielsen has compiled viewership data for TV shows on streaming platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu, reports The Wall Street Journal.

These companies do not publicly share their series' ratings, so Nielsen's estimates offer a fresh look at their performance. The company collected programming data across 40,000 homes using audio recognition technology and then presented the data at the Nielsen Consumer 360 conference earlier this week.

The S&P 500 wrapped up its strongest week of the year following the post-Brexit rebound of the past few days.

Multiple studies have concluded that men find women more attractive during ovulation.

This is the one time a month that the ovaries release an egg ready for fertilization.

So it's the time when women are most fertile, and men seem to be biologically programmed to pick up on that.
