New parliament’s first session date already set
The new Armenian National Assembly convenes its first session on December 14, Zhamanak reports.
According to the media source, it was planned initially to hold the first session on January 7, but this is a holiday day, the session will be held on January 14.
It was possible to convene the session on January 8, but distribution of posts needs additional time.
On December 16, Tigran Mukuchyan, the head of the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia, released the final results of the early parliamentary elections held in the country on December 9.
The bloc My Step won a sweeping victory with 884,864 or 70.42% of votes, Prosperous Armenia scored 103,801 or 8.26% and Bright Armenia 80,047 или 6.37%.
These three political forces will have seats in the National Assembly – My Step will have 84 seats plus four representatives of ethnic minorities, Prosperous Armenia will have 26 members in the parliament and Bright Armenia 18.
The Republican Party of Armenia, the party that ruled the country before the revolutionary changes, failed to obtain even one seat in the parliament – only 59,083 people or 4.07% cast their votes for it.
The Social Democratic Party “The Decision of the Citizen” scored 8,514 or 0.68%, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation/Dashnaktsutiun 48,816 or 3.88%, the Christian People Revival 6,458 or 0.51%, National Progress 4,121 or 0.33%, We bloc 25,176 or 2%, Orinats Yerkir 12,393 или 0.99% and Sasna Tsrer 22,868 или 1.82%. -0---
