Fortnite season 5 map: Every new location

Fortnite season 5 is changing up a big chunk of the map thanks to Galactus' poor dieting skills. Season 4 introduced us to a bunch of Marvel-themed locations, but season 5 promises to be at least a little less of a marketing collaboration. Still, with the Mandalorian being a battle pass skin, we're bound to see plenty of weird new POIs.

As always, the Fortnite island is a huge place with plenty of nooks and crannies to explore. So we've whipped up this guide to all the new locations and old locations you can find on the Fortnite map, and given you some tips on where to drop.

Fortnite map: All the new locations

Season 5 has dramatically reshaped the center of the Fortnite map, replacing the Ruins with a giant sandy desert, filled with purple rock formations. There's several new locations in and out of the desert to explore.

Fortnite map: Zero Point

A giant desert biome in the center of the map that contains a number of other POIs. Courageous (or maybe foolhardy) players will want to stay on the move while adventuring through the sand, since standing still will make you sink. It's not a bad way to escape from your enemies, but it could ruin the perfect shot if you're trying to line up a thousand-yard headshot.

Stealthy Stronghold

A giant jungle biome encircled by a concrete wall. Frankly, this place looks right out of Jurassic World, and there's been some rumors that dinosaurs may be featured in season 5...eventually. That would be awesome, but for now, it's just a very cool place to shoot friends in.

Colossal Colosseum

Exactly what it sounds like. A giant Greek-ish arena adorned with statues of Peely and a sandy battle pit. Expect this place to be a popular drop spot. Like the Authority before it, it'll be tougher to get into the location than it will be to get out thanks to some tall walls.

Salty Towers

Your favorite POI is back, but it's a bit dusty. Much like the rest of the Zero Point desert, this place is covered in sand that you might sink in if you stand still for a few seconds. That said, I love how the changes to this area provide plenty of routes to be stealthy and circle around enemies if you want to avoid a fight.

Pizza Pit

An unmarked POI near the Colosseum, the Pizza Pit is across the way from the Farmers Market, and the street outside is swamped with sand. This location acts as a strong pitstop (Pizza Pitstop?) if you're exiting the desert area. The ample cover and a few loot chests will hopefully bolster your arsenal during a match.

Risky Reels

I've seen better theaters in the bummiest Midwest malls. Risky Reels managed to survive the dimensional vortex, but not well. It'll probably be a favorite spot for players coming into the desert from the north, considering a paved road leads right to it.

Butter Barn

This is where you'll find Mancake, the sentient stack of flapjacks featured in the battle pass. It's a modest little restaurant sitting alongside the southern river leading into the Zero Point desert. A boat will likely spawn down the way.

The Mandalorian's Razor Crest

Poor Razor Crest. The Mandalorian's ship has had a heck of a time between season two of the Disney Plus series and its arrival in Fortnite. The Razor Crest is already being featured in one of Fortnite's weekly challenges, so prepare to get familiar with it. You'll find it southeast of the Colosseum.

Hunter's Haven

This seems like where all the "hunters" Jonesy has rounded up are staying. Pretty sweet digs, if you ask me. This place is loaded with plenty of loot chests and character Easter eggs if you're into finding that kind of stuff. It should definitely be one of the first places you hit up.

Dusty Depot

A sad shell of its former self, one hangar from Dusty Depot remains, partially filled with sand.

This Viking Ship place

Northwest of Slurpy Swamp, this Viking ship appears to have landed on top of a store. You'll find a number of loot chests inside its hull, but otherwise there's nothing terribly special about this location yet.

Toilet Factory

A small addition south of Slurpy Swamp. You'll first notice the giant toilet sitting outside the fence. The inside is a fairly unremarkable setting.

Fortnite map: Returning POIs

The rest of the Fortnite map remains largely untouched, meaning a lot of your favorites are still kicking around in all their glory. As you can imagine, season 4's enormous Upstate New York POI is gone now, leaving plenty of room in the northeast portion of the map.

Fortnite map: The best places to drop

As always, the bigger the location, the more likely it is to have a fair number of loot chests and routes to take if things get hairy. The Colossal Coliseum, Salty Towers, Hunter's Haven, and Stealthy Stronghold will be obvious places to prioritize. Pizza Pit, Risky Reels, and the Razor Crest are secondary.

I'd also recommend checking out the returning bridge/boat dock at the south end of the desert. Obviously there's not much in the way of water, but you can still snag a boat and get upriver easily enough, which will lead you to the Butter Barn for a quick pitstop.
