Ole Miss runs past Siena men's basketball in second half
Sophomore point guard Javian McCollum had a career-high 24 points and eight assists, continuing his strong play against a national-caliber field. He had 18 points and eight assists on Thanksgiving, when the Saints knocked off Florida State 80-63 in a quarterfinal.
“It’s been great to see,” Maciariello said. “Obviously, (McCollum played) 34 minutes today. I’d like to get him a little rest. He’s still not in 100 percent great shape yet. This’ll help, this time off now and the rest of (Saturday) will help. But then we play another tough opponent on Sunday, whether it’s Oklahoma or Seton Hall. I think teams are going to try to gameplan for him, but it is what it is. I think we’ll be able to give him the ball and put him in different situations where he’ll be able to help us. I thought Ole Miss did a great job taking away (Andrew) Platek.”
