The Boys’ Queen Maeve Takes Over As Wonder Woman In No Man’s Land Art
Digital artist bosslogic's stunning new fan art envisions The Boys' Queen Maeve as the new Wonder Woman in the iconic No Man's Land scene.
Stunning new fan art transforms The Boys' Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott) into Wonder Woman. Maeve is part of The Seven, Vought's elite fighting force of superheroes. To her credit, though, Maeve is one of the few members of The Seven with a conscience and ultimately tries to do the right thing in The Boys' explosive season 2 finale.
Gal Gadot plays Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman, in the DCEU. Gadot starred as the Amazon princess in Wonder Woman and is set to reprise her role in Wonder Woman 1984. That being said, one of Wonder Woman's most iconic scenes in the eponymous film takes place in No Man's Land. More specifically, the empowering scene shows Diana deciding to take a stand and fight back, despite her fellow male soldiers telling her that crossing No Man's Land is impossible. In response, Diana grabs her shield and runs directly across the barren field, deflecting a hail of gunfire and inspiring the soldiers behind her.
New fan art by bosslogic shows McElligott's Queen Maeve as Wonder Woman during the famed No Man's Land sequence. Maeve is dressed in Wonder Woman's armor and carries her shield on her back. Bosslogic has also darkened Maeve's hair and included Wonder Woman's tiara so that McElligott truly looks the part. You can catch bosslogic's gorgeous creation below:
It's fitting that bosslogic has envisioned McElligott as Wonder Woman, especially considering Queen Maeve is intended to be a parody of the Amazon warrior. To start, both Queen Maeve and Wonder Woman have backstories that are rooted in mythology, although Maeve is named after an Irish warrior. In addition, both characters wear intricate suits of metallic armor, while carrying a sword as their weapon of choice. Maeve also acts as The Seven's moral compass, just as Wonder Woman remains a resoundingly ethical member of the Justice League. As such, bosslogic's creation is more than a cool piece of fan art—it's also a reminder to fans about the clear parallels between the two characters.
While The Boys' Queen Maeve is a riff on Wonder Woman, the former will never be as morally just as the DC hero. Still, Maeve does her moments; while she's become increasingly cynical during her time in The Seven, her actions in season 2—from saving Starlight to teaming up against Stormfront—show that she genuinely wants to do good. To that end, fans hope that season 3 will explore more of Maeve's heroic side—and that the supe will fully come into her own as a true hero.
