90 Day Fiancé: Is Big Ed Banned from TLC? | Screen Rant
Popular 90 Day Fiancé cast member, Big Ed's, absence from new 90 Day Fiancé spin-off, Strikes Back, has fans wondering, is he banned from TLC?
TLC is going forward with a 90 Day Fiancé spin-off called Strikes Back which gives cast members the chance to 'strike back' at their haters. Popular cast members, Tom Brooks and Lisa Hamme are both confirmed participants in the spin-off but one of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days' most popular cast members to date, Big Ed Brown, is nowhere to be found. This begs the question, has Big Ed been banned from TLC?
Ed Brown is a 54-year-old professional photographer from San Diego, California. He gave himself the name "Big Ed" for his large personality, which is ironic because he stands at a mere 4’ 11”. 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days followed Big Ed as he traveled to the Philippines to meet his hopeful future bride, Rosemarie Vega. The couple broke it off at the end of the season after Rose learned Big Ed didn’t want kids, a truth he withheld despite knowing Rose wanted to have more children.
Daily Soap Dish broke the news of Big Ed’s absence from Strikes Back. With Big Ed’s controversial arc on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Day’s, there could be many reasons why TLC would not want him on their programming in the future. One of the biggest possible reasons being the sexual assault allegations against him. After Big Ed’s popularity grew, a woman came forward and accused Big Ed of grooming her then sexually assaulting her to the point where she was hospitalized and left with lasting health conditions.
To pursue Rose, Big Ed cut ties with his 23-year-old daughter, Tiffany Brown. Big Ed calls Tiffany “the love of his life” when the two have a heart to heart at the end of the season. Fans were left wondering why Big Ed would completely cut ties with someone who's that important to him just because they questioned his relationship. The age difference between Big Ed and Rose was certainly an eyebrow-raiser (Big Ed is 31 years Rose’s senior) but suspicions over a large age gap typically wouldn’t warrant someone to completely cut off a close family member.
With Big Ed’s alleged history of grooming and sexually assaulting a young woman, it’s possible Tiffany feared he would do the same to Rose. Throughout his time on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, Big Ed repeatedly lied to and manipulated Rose before she left him to return to the Philippines. Big Ed withheld information and repeatedly questioned Rose’s sexual history and honesty. On multiple occasions, Rose was left in tears following her tense confrontations with Big Ed. While the failed relationship may have made for an entertaining season, these allegations against Big Ed may just make him too controversial for comfort.
90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days airs Sundays at 8pm EST on TLC.
