CONOR McGREGOR has been given the chance to create UFC history after being offered a title shot against welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.
The Notorious – who was the first person to hold two different belts simultaneously – could now become the UFC’s first three-weight world champ.
Former featherweight and lightweight title-holder McGregor, 31, made a winning return to the welterweight division when he stopped Donald Cerrone in 40 seconds in January.
And he could benefit from No1 contender Jorge Masvidal eyeing up a rematch against Nate Diaz instead of facing the Nigerian Nightmare.
Taking to Twitter, Usman’s manager Ali Abdelaziz offered McGregor the chance to face the 16-1 star, but vowed he wouldn’t last more than two rounds.
He said: “It looks like #1 contender wants to fight Nate Diaz now. Good for him.
“@TheNotoriousMMA hey you want a title shot?
“Come to daddy @USMAN84kg will give you one and he promise first 2 rounds without takedowns only slaps.”
Usman, 33, won the welterweight strap in March 2019 after outpointing Tyron Woodley, before he knocked out Colby Covington in his only defence in December.
McGregor has only fought three times at the 170lbs limit, where he has beaten Diaz and Cerrone, while he also suffered a defeat against Diaz in their first encounter.

The Irishman – who has been linked with fights against Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Diaz and Masvidal – recently caused a stir on social media.
He labelled himself as second in a self-devised MMA ‘Greatest Of All Time’ list, where he stated he will be No1 by the time he retires.
His comments drew criticism from the likes of Jon Jones, Khabib and Diaz who rubbished his claims as they poured cold water on his view.
