THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) _ Amgen Inc. (AMGN) on Tuesday reported first-quarter net income of $2.31 billion. The Thousand Oaks, California-based company said it had net income of $3.25 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to $3.47 per share. The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The rookie is back for another stint.

The Oakland A’s placed relief pitcher Yusmeiro Petit on the bereavement list Tuesday, the team announced. To replace him on the 25-man roster, rookie reliever Lou Trivino was called up from Triple-A Nashville.

Atlanta was extorted for $50,000 to be paid in bitcoin (roughly 5.4 bitcoin as of press time) after the city’s computer networks were infected with vicious malware in late March. BOSTON (AP) — Several sea turtles are basking safely in the warm Florida surf following a long stay in Massachusetts. Biologists from the New England Aquarium have released 14 endangered and threatened sea turtles into the Atlantic Ocean off Florida Monday.
