CALLUM HUDSON-ODOI has been urged to snub a career-defining move to Bayern Munich in favour of a loan spell in League One.
Former Wales star Dean Saunders says Hudson-Odoi – who made his England debut last Friday – should be happy to play “now and again” for Chelsea.
Then, after learning from the likes of Pedro and Eden Hazard, continue his football education in the second or third tier of English football.
Former Liverpool and Derby star Saunders, 54, told talkSPORT: “Hudson-Odoi has got to stick at Chelsea.
“Watch Pedro, watch Hazard, watch Willian. Study them and learn from them.
“Play now and again, they maybe next year go on loan to a Championship or League One club and play against men.”
One listener said Saunders was talking “absolute nonsense” and another claimed he sounded like a “drunk uncle”.
‘DRUNK UNCLE’
Reports have claimed Manchester United are also entering the race to sign 18-year-old Hudson-Odoi.
Chelsea turned down a £35million offer from Bayern for the attacker during the last transfer window.
But Saunders’ words are not all that dissimilar from Gareth Southgate’s.
The Three Lions boss told the teenager not to be in a rush to quit Chelsea and Maurizio Sarri.
He said: “If you look at number of appearances, he has actually been on the field quite a lot.

“And I know from when we were talking with the club earlier in the season how much faith Maurizio has in him. He has got some outstanding players just in front of him but he’s slowly getting more and more game time.
“So, I think he’s maturing well. There doesn’t need to be a rush for him. We’ve seen that with Marcus Rashford and his development.
“He’s getting first-team football and that’s important. For us, I think his progress is good.”
