Rogue Aquatic Park yachtsman gets his day in court
Rogue yachtsman Bryan Pennington finally got his day in court Thursday, using the opportunity to pick at every aspect of federal and maritime law as he sought to defend himself against accusations that he illegally anchored his boat for months in the federal waters of Aquatic Park Cove, causing havoc in the harbor.
In an hour-long cross-examination of David Pelfrey, supervisory ranger with the National Park Service, Pennington suggested that he is disabled, as is his vessel, and that he was being hounded for simply seeking safe harbor.
“Are you aware of me having medical problems?” he asked Pelfrey, at which point U.S. Magistrate Laurel Beeler said “you are straying off the case.
