Hraparak: AUA encourages students’ attendance at public rallies
The American University of Armenia (AUA) appears to be among the few institutions of higher learning to encourage its students to take part in public demonstrations.
While many private universities close their doors to students, preventing them from joining the opposition rally against Serzh Sargsyan’s nomination for Prime Minister, AUA is said to have adopted an absolutely different stance.
The University finds that students’ active participation in assemblies develops a civil consciousness among them from a very young age. What the AUA professors want is to bring up a generation capable of protecting ther own rights, says the paper.
